Birch Wall Inspiration

I have a large wall in my dining area and I have been toying with the idea of painting birch trees on it. Lately I have been fascinated by all things birch. Maybe I miss the big birch in my old front yard. I found the pictures below on Google images. Tell me what you think.

Car Service Woes

I finally got my car in to be fixed. they thought it would take a half day but it took all day. So I stayed home from work, no wheels and putzed. I bought the lovely necklace on line at www.anntaylorloft.com Staying home on a work day can be dangerous!

This necklace is amazing. Doesn't look like someone just hooked a bunch of necklaces to a chain necklace! via themoldydoily.typepad.com

I love the mismatched chairs painted the same color via ohdeedo

Another cool necklace from The Moldy Doily

I love everything about this picture, the skirt, the top and the cut out backdrop. It's from la casita de Wendy via finelittleday.blogspot.com

And one more crazy necklace from The Moldy Doily.

So back to work tomorrow with a car that will now go backwards. Yippee!!!

What I Like Today

It seems that I have started a little Saturday morning tradition, a cup of coffee, a couple of cats and my computer. Here's what made me smile today

Blustery Blog

The last couple of days have been rainy and WINDY. It made me think of Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day. "Now on this blustery day, Pooh decided to visit his thoughtful spot. Yes, and on the way he made up a little hum."

All that wind reminded me that I had this collection of clothesline pictures. Don't ask why but I thought they were pretty. I found them all on Google Images.

This one reminds me of my trip to Italy too many years ago. I'm saving up for a return visit.

Who wouldn't want all these jammy bottoms on a blustery night?

Stay warm and dry this weekend my lovelies!

Pond Hill Farm

I finally got my act together yesterday and drove up to Pond Hill Farm. They plan the big pumpkin harvest this week but they had a few to choose from anyway. There was plenty of squash though.

The highlight of my visit was the piglet races, hee-hee. They built a maze for the pigs to run through. Here they are gathered at the gate ready to fly like the wind.

They take off at a slow trot.

A few began to lose interest at the turn and started to snuffle and graze on the grass. Highly expert handlers shooed them along. It was riveting!!

I came home with gourds, squash and pumpkins. My condo looks very festive now.
Check out their website at www.pondhill.com They have tons of fun stuff planned for this fall - hayrides, the squash rocket and of course pig races!!

Lazy Sunday

Well, I don't know what got into me, but I slept in this morning until 10:30!! I went to the movies last night with my friend S and we saw The Town with Ben Affleck. It was pretty violent but had great shots of Boston. Then S and I went to dinner at the South American Grille. We didn't have a late night so I guess I just needed the sleep. So I'm still in my pjs and I won't tell you what time it is now :) but I found some cool things while browsing. The first one below is from Sharon at http://thisthriftyhouse.blogspot.com/ She has a DIY tutorial on how to iron homemade decals on your walls. She says they are easy to do and peel right off when you are tired of them.

This fall decoration idea comes from http://thehandmedownhouse.blogspot.com/

And this little guy is adorable isn't he? via http://contentinacottage.blogspot.com/

I guess I will get dressed, finally. It's a pretty, sunny day so I'll drive up to Pond Hill Farm and get a pumpkin or two. Have a lovely, lazy Sunday.

Woman Can Woman Do!

I went to a benefit luncheon yesterday for the Woman's Resource Center. They run a safe house, preschool program and provide rape support. They also run a resale shop. This lunch is their major fundraiser for the year. Imagine 350 women at 46 tables. Each table was decorated by local businesses and designers. I should have taken more pictures because the tables were incredible! Each person also got a favor based on their table's theme.

I missed taking a picture of my table. It was designed by a dress shop called Threads. The centerpiece was a Project Runway like cocktail dress made of fashion magazines. Our table favor was a lacy thong. Hmmmmm. I wish I'd been sitting at the Kilwin's chocolate table. The only one at our table excited was the 80 year old great grandma from Mackinac Island. The cause is good, the company enjoyable and everything was beautiful to see.

Saturday Fun

Lucky me, I got to go downstate and visit with Amber and the kids. Mike took over my condo for a golf weekend with the boys. Amber had to work today so I had the whole day to play with kiddos! M needed a DS fix after a hard week in third grade and it was rainy yucky out. Miss Thang is teething so we spent most of the day rolling around on the floor. M and I did get to play a rousing game of Mouse Trap.

Amber came home, scooped us up and took us to Rain Forest Cafe for dinner. We saved room for their signature dessert the Volcano - a brownie tower with ice cream, whipped cream and hot fudge. Beansie was a little confused by the fireworks.

And then all she got was a banana to eat!

M had no trouble polishing off a big chunk of molten lava.

And yes we had a take home bag. That thing was huge!! Our waiter said they serve about 100 volcanoes a night.

Subaru Woes

My little Subaru doesn't always want to go in reverse, so I brought it in to the dealer. Whine! It's not going to be cheap to fix.

Maybe I need some new wheels. The car below would get me noticed.

Pretty Paper Art

Well, Labor Day weekend has been a bust weatherwise - cloudy, rainy and cold. Saturday I went to the movies and dinner with my friend S. We saw Eat, Pray, Love. As is usual, the book is better. I'm sorry but Julia Roberts is not a good match for Liz Gilbert. The scenery was pretty though. Yesterday, I went to Traverse City to do some school shopping. I also went
to lunch at one of my favorite restaurants in Traverse City called Poppycock. Yum! The State Theatre is playing the foreign film version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I think I would like to see that as opposed to the what will most likely be the prettied up version with Julia Roberts. sheesh.

So today was supposed to be the one good day of the long weekend but it's cloudy, rainy and cold again. So I made some banana bread to bring to school tomorrow with a couple of tiny Martha Stewart flags for decorations.

Anyway as the title of the post says here is a beautiful picture of flowers made up of hundreds of cutout hearts. See more at http://mondocherry.blogspot.com
