Pretty Things

Spring break starts tomorrow.  I decided to work it because I am up to my eyeballs in reports.  I will , however, be off to Amber's on Saturday morning and we are going to Chicago for the week.  We will stay at Rachael and Pete's - Yeah!!  But they won't be there - Boo-hoo!!  They will be having fun in the sun.  I am looking forward to a week in Chicago.
Hey, Amber, here is another possibility for the family room.  I like the recessed desks.  This was found via

I Need a Life

So what happens when you Google "chicken on your head"?  Don't ask why.   I was surprised and maybe a little disturbed that this is just some of what I found.

Longing for Spring

I am so tired of winter.  I actually had a snow day yesterday.  Up until Tuesday night, most of the snow had melted and then another storm came through.  Ugh!  So today I went out on the interwebs looking for Spring.  The picture below has very sweet baby clothes but please tell me that's a wig.  Get a load of those MC Hammer pants.

Bad Girls Book Club

Book club was at my house tonight.  The hostess has to incorporate the food from the book in the meal that she serves.  Now you have to know that we are The Bad Girls Book Club - where half of us don't read the book and the other half don't show up.  Which was true to form tonight.  The book I picked was  the Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.  I won't give it away, but is is a sweet story.  It has an Asian influence so I made lettuce wraps and beef and broccoli  with rice.  We talked about everything but the book as usual.  They are all on Face Book and they talked about how people wax poetic about the food they make for dinner and how perfect their lives are.  That is one big reason why I don't participate.  This is me saying this after I talked about the food that I made  :)  We visited all evening and finally I asked,  "Who has the next book?'  Hmmmm  no one spoke up.  Yea, we don't have a book for April.  No one knows who's turn it is.  So we decided to meet at a restaurant and each of us have a book to talk about.  Translation - we will meet to eat and drink and dish the dirt.  Books may not be involved.
This, however is a great book - read it!!

Good Foodie Sites

I am having my monthly Book club over on Tuesday.  We provide a book inspired meal.  The book I chose was The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.  So my meal will be Asian inspired.  I spent this morning wasting time putting together a menu.  I remembered a great site by Heidi at .  She is a designer and cookbook author from San Fransisco.  I'm not using any of her recipes on Tuesday but the first two recipes below look so yummy.  I can't wait to try them.
Chocolate Puddle Cookies

Orzo Super Salad

The recipes below are from Erin at   She is a designer in the Boston area.  I will be making the recipe below for Book Club.  One of the ladies is a vegetarian.  Doesn't this look wonderful?

Happy Friday

the week just flies by for me.  I can't believe it's already Friday.  I am still feeling a little punk.  I came home from school today and slept for 3 straight hours and I'm still sleepy.    I'm loving the green in the picture below.  What kind of pottery/earthenware is this?  It's fabulous!!!

Look at this really great DIY Starburst by Stephanie at She has a great tutorial and template.

Below was made using the tutorial for a little girl's bedroom.  Isn't it sweet.  You can find it at It's made with bamboo skewers.
I have been trying to figure out a color scheme for my office area.  Camila over at has put together this collection of fabrics that would work with what I already have.  What do you think?  I'm a sucker for pom pom fringe!

Enjoy your weekend.  I have a concert to go to tomorrow night that I am really looking forward to seeing.

Bits and Pieces

Here are a few good things I have been saving up.  I love the picture below.  I had an imaginary elephant when I was little.  My mom told a story about how we took my elephant to the grocery store one day.  Mom told me I had to leave it tied up outside because elephants weren't allowed in.  Well, we finished shopping and went home, leaving the elephant tied up outside the store.  Bless my mama, she took me back to collect my friend.

I have no idea what this means.  They remind me of spiders.  How did they all get up there?

Amber, I can't wait to see Beans in something like this.  I love nautical stripes for Spring.  What a cutie!

Vintage Scandinavian Design

I love the interest I have seen in Blogland about these wonderful Scandinavian designs in vintage dishes.  I found these examples below several weeks ago and did not save my cheat sheet of where I found them.  I think I went on Google Images.  Aren't these lovely?

It reminds me of my lovely Orla Kiely bag
