So if the world was to end, these are some of the views we might see? Or that I would want to see! :)

We Made It!

Well, the end of days deadline came and went.  I chose to wait for the rapture in a very significant way.  I could have cleaned house but why dust if this is the end?  I could have planned an entire day of introspection. That didn't work because I find my mind wandering when I try to think deep thoughts for more than, say two minutes.  So I had a lot of day left to fill with epic deeds since the Rapture was scheduled for dinnertime last night.

I'm hoping this is what the pearly gates look like.  Found here

Imagine my joy to discover there was a Glee marathon on all day!!    It was the entire season back to back.  and yes I did it.  I missed most of them this year so I got my fill of show tunes and pop anthems.  I was in heaven already.  I loves me a Gleekathon. Don't judge me,  at least I wasn't in a cave with a case of pork and beans waiting for the end of days.  So there.

The Ultimate Chair

I have been thinking about the perfect chair for my living room.  I have a plain wooden rocker now and I want something comfy.  Maybe something overstuffed.  My sofa and chair and a half are solid colored so a print chair would be nice.  Maybe an ottoman to rest my feet on.  Can one chair solve all my problems?

A Weekend in Chicago

I spent the weekend with Rachael and Pete.  I had a fabulous time!  I took the train from Grand Rapids for the first time and not only was it slick, it was cheap.  I had to take a pic of Sammy.  She had just had her summer hair cut.  She is a big fluffy girl and she gets shorn for the hot weather.  They left her head all pouffe and now she looks like a bobble head.

I went to see Rachael in a concert on Sunday.  She was a soloist in a concert in Northfield.  It was all French composers.  She sang Pie Jesu from Faure's Requiem.  It is one of my favorites and she sang it beautifully if I say so myself.

Yesterday we went to the new modern wing of the Art Institute.  It is very beautiful, a study in windows and light.
I t is very open with a lot of space

At times it seems sparse and the skyline was a more attractive view, especially in the room where the paintings were all white.
Though I did enjoy the Chagall's and Miro's.

We ate lunch at the Terzo Piano restaurant at the top of the museum.  The food was yummy and the view is fantastic.

Tutu Cute!

What? No post all weekend? Is this a Blogger issue, or a Grandma having too much fun this weekend? Here is an adorable image from the peas in our pod, I think we need to make one of these for Beans!!

A Special Day

Happy Birthday Amber!!!  I hope your day was terrific.

Okay, what the heck are these for?  They are called Circle Shoes and come in a variety of colors.  How do you walk in them.   Why would you make yourself pigeon toed?  I don't get it.  Check out the whole line at Eatable of Many Orders  Sheesh

Amber and I went shopping a couple of weekends ago and saw a young woman with beautiful healthy shiny green hair.  Amber pointed out you don't see that very often.  If your hair is purple or pink it is also usually fried.  Her hair was really pretty.  I like the picture below for the same reason.  The touch of pink is darling.  I wonder how it would look on me.  Never mind she's 30 years younger and gorgeous.

Great Snarky Sites

These two sites are both hilarious. Rachael had a hand in finding them.  She emailed me about the first one that she found and the second site comes via her friends Kim and Scott.   The pictures below come from Karly at Design Crisis  has photos of interesting design and then her comments are funny.  Check her out for a giggle.

Kim and Scott at Yellow Brick Home led me to the next site, Dooce, written by Heather.  She writes about the trials and tribulations of family life with a very twisted sense of humor.

This is her dog Chuck.  She has a series of pictures of him.
This is a friend of hers whose style she likes.  What I like most about Heather, however, is her description of daily life with hubby, two small kids and several pets. She will make you smile.

Happy Mother's Day

Hope you are having a restful and happy day all you moms out there.  Once again I find myself drawn to bright and crazy colors.  The home below comes from a weekly Etsy feature called Get the Look Decor that comes out on Sundays.  This week is the home of Polly Jones from Abilene, Texas. This makes me smile.

And here is an example of her artwork from her Etsy shop called  Polly Painting

Happy Friday

What is it about Turquoise and Orange?  I LOVE this combo from designer Lisa Ho at the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week via Where the Lovely Things Are  I spent the last two weekends at Amber's.  She and her family were supposed to come up for Mother's Day.  But she called and said both the kiddos have impetigo.  Poor babies!  So I will use the time alone to clean up this condo.  I still have Ikea strewn about the house and piles of files everywhere.  Don't feel too sorry for me though, friends called and invited me to brunch on Mother's Day.   Have a restful weekend.

Online Decorating Magazine

I am a sucker for decorating mags.  I love the fact that they are usually free too.  This is the premiere issue of House of Fifty.   It has some pretty snazzy ideas.  I don't seem to be able to add a link directly in the blog so I have added it to our list of favorite links at the left.  Check it out.

Nightstand Ideas

I spent the weekend at Amber's again.  I enjoyed myself as always.   We went on a little shopping trip pre-birthday.  She mentioned that she is looking for nightstand ideas.  I know you wanted one with shelves for your books, but some of these are just fun.  The first two below are from Houzz.  Click on the pictures for links.
