I had a ton of fun last night in Boyne City. I went to dinner and a show with friends. We started the evening at Water Street Cafe for our meal. I am not very imaginative and ordered my usual, a Maurice Salad. There was ten of us in all. A couple of my friends brought kids along. Water Street has the best food and its a pretty place to eat with a beautiful tin ceiling and many chandeliers.
Next we went to the Boyne City High School's production of The Pajama Games. The show is fun and the singing and dancing were exceptional. I helped a teeny tiny bit by making one of the costumes. It was a hoot to see my "creation" on stage.
Originally produced on Broadway in 1954, the show was made into a movie starring Doris Day in 1957. Both the Broadway and film versions featured choreography by Broadway legend Bob Fosse. A Broadway revival staring Harry Connick Jr. won that year's Tony Award for best revival.
The story in this romantic comedy centers around the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory where things are anything but peaceful as the workers are at odds with management over a 7-and-a-half-cent pay raise. Sparks fly when a romance blossoms between the new superintendent Sid Sorokin and Babe Williams, the leader of the union's grievance committee. (via The Petoskey News Review)

There is a storm brewing out there in blogging land. Amber and I started Wrinkly with little knowledge of the generally excepted rules of crediting our lovely finds. At first I didn't even know to link back. Now I link back to original source but that may not be enough. In my defence, I don't make any money off this blog nor do I copy ideas that I find online and sell the results. This is a little mom and daughter adventure that means no harm. Ana over at Blog Milk has a thoughtful essay from a guest blogger that talks to this issue. Check it out. I also love her blog and the fact that she gives away these downloadable lovely prints. I see a trip to Ikea in my future for bright little frames. These prints will look great in my grandkid play area.

What a difference a few days make. Amber brought the kiddos up last weekend. Here is a picture of Miss L in my driveway. Remember the snow a couple of weeks ago? It hit 80 degrees on St Paddy's Day.
Yesterday we went to the beach. That's Lake Michigan folks!! The kids built sand castles, threw rocks and waded in the water. We were the only ones on the Bay Harbor beach. Amber couldn't decide if we looked like renters or locals.
I can't imagine what spring will bring, since we are still technically in winter.

There is a saying that if you don't like the weather in northern Michigan, wait five minutes. One week ago we had a two foot snowstorm and this weekend it was top down weather. Now, you have to realize it was in the 50's, but I did see my first convertible with its top down on Sunday. I also saw a man with a kayak on his back walking down the main drag. Saturday, I went to dinner at Whitecaps Restaurant in Petoskey with a friend and her son and his wife. It was a beautiful mild evening.
After dinner we went to a production of Romeo and Juliet put on by the Grand Rapids Ballet company. It was a beautiful modern take on the story. The staging was minimal but very powerful. We are so lucky to have these opportunities in our little town. They played to a full house as well.
On Sunday night I make a batch of this leprechaun cookie bark to bring to school. Remember my New Year's resolution? I'm still making goodies on Sunday to bring to one lucky school the next morning.
All in all a good weekend and a glimpse of spring.

Here are some very cute printables for St Patrick's Day. I especially like the Lucky Bingo game. If the kiddos come up for the weekend, I'll print it up and we can play a game or two.
I like the subway poster below.

Maybe it's because of the almost two foot snow dump, but I am craving color. I want lovely pale colors, like a spring bouquet. I don't wear dresses in winter. I am tired of heavy sweaters and corduroy. Let's dream of twirly skirts and gauzy fabric.
Vintage 1950's pale pink beauty
Pale blue smoothie dress
Pretty mint green 1950's cocktail dress.
Who is this famous beauty in pale yellow?
I love the collar on this one.
Peachy keen. I love the whole outfit.

This storm started last night at about 5PM and it is still going strong this morning. Here are a couple of shots from my condo. Now mind you we were down to grass and dry roads in most places. Since I appear to be snowed in, it looks like a good day to sew and watch movies on TV.
This is a picture of my back balcony looking out over the 10th tee.
This was taken last weekend when Amber brought up the kiddos for their midwinter break. We went to the Winter Sports Park to see if there was enough snow to sled. The kids ended up playing on the snow shoveled off the parking lot!!
What a difference a week makes!
